Arkell’s Moonlight is an ale with a rather special story behind it. Originally brewed in 2003 to celebrate the 80th birthday of Peter Arkell OBE, its name recalls his wartime missions flying low over occupied France by moonlight, while the Lysander aircraft he flew appears proudly on the bottle. In the glass, Moonlight has a warm copper colour with distinctive lemony and dark fruit flavours.
There is something wonderfully fitting about enjoying this one at the end of the day. Full of character and brewing heritage, it is a lovely choice for a quiet evening by the fire and an especially thoughtful bottle for anyone with an interest in traditional British beer or aviation history.
