The Giving Tree was born out of Essentially For You which started life some 18 years ago. Essentially For You was founded by Sam as a way to combine her expertise as a massage and aroma therapist with her interest and belief in the benefits of essential oils and natural body care products. Treatments were given in rented rooms and products were sold in the Shambles market in Devizes.
In 2008 we moved into a shop in The Ginnel, Devizes where Sam was able to establish her own treatment room upstairs and the downstairs was dedicated to selling a growing range of products, many of which she made herself and still with the emphasis on natural and ethical. 2016 saw more change as Essentially For You moved out of The Ginnel to a purpose built treatment room in the rural setting of Potterne and the shop went under a transformation. While retaining the core of natural products and with an increasing range made by Sam The Giving Tree was born as a retailer of high quality gifts.
Then in October 2018 we moved to our new shop in the Little Brittox, Devizes. To close the old shop and open the new in the space of 48 hours was a little challenging – but with good friends and very understanding customers it was done without any problem at all (and that is the only untruth you will find on this website!)

Having been tasked by our daughter to care for her plants while she is away I noticed 3 new shoots on her banana plant. Which is a great reminder that many see the New Year as new beginnings or a fresh start. For us it is a busy month travelling around the country for trade shows looking for new product to stock, catch up with current suppliers and find out what they have new and planned for 2023.
